Jeana Tall
Jeana Tall
Board Treasurer (General Member Term Expires 2026)
Jeana Velar Tall trained rigorously on the swim team prior to graduating from Highland Park
High School, in Highland Park, Michigan, and consistently held 1st place in Highland Park’s all-
city, swim team division. A unique and brutal skill she acquired, as a swim champion, was being
able to swim from one end of the Olympic sized pool to the other, while holding her breath under
water. Just imagine translating this skill into your business acumen and non-profit strategy
methods as she has done, to emerge determined and focused on the other side of challenges.
This ability, to be patient, strong, and resilient, while under pressure, is a business characteristic
that she has polished over the last 25 years. Not only has hours of swim training perfected her
polymathic approach to life, as swimming works out just about every muscle, she lends her
chameleon style of immersing herself directly into the heart of a process and projecting
flexibility and adaptability skills. Ms. Tall has provided solutions, for a plethora of businesses
and non-profits, who have specifically requested her consulting and executive-level, think-tank
services to tackle their complex problems.
As an entrepreneur, Ms. Tall’s skills span horizontally across various vertical markets as self-
employed business owners often hold a multitude of business management skills. As a master of
acquiring resources and funding, building partnerships, and cultivating relationships, Ms. Tall is
often asked to train, teach, and design curriculum instruction on best practices such as, managing
a non-profit, conduct board training, develop a business strategy, design a program or project, or
design and facilitate an annual fundraiser.
As a seasonal tax expert for Intuit’s Turbo Tax software, she combines her technical savvy skills
with the ability to learn new software, quickly with 20 years of tax preparation experience. Ms.
Tall’s acute attention to detail and problem-solving knowledge permeates into marketable skills
needed to create balanced budgets, manage projects tied to funding, and program and project
management with cost forecasts and budget narrative requests.
Ms. Tall has earned a Bachelor’s in Sociology from the University of Detroit Mercy, completed
a Master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies – Non Profit Sector program at Wayne State University,
earned a Master’s of Adult Education from the University of Phoenix, and is currently a
Doctorate student at National University, completing her dissertation research on teaching
strategies that boost high school graduation for students whose parent(s) are incarcerated. In
addition to focusing on providing relief and compassion for her community’s hardest hit
populations, in Detroit, Michigan, Ms. Tall has worked tirelessly, providing fund development,
training, process re-engineering, administrative management and support, and grant writing for
social change agencies in Michigan with some organizations whose revenues exceed $2 million
per year.
Ms. Tall spent several years, in Dakar, Senegal, and served as a High School Teacher, teaching
American business concepts to West African students. She is also a pioneer in spoken word
poetry and manages a family-owned upscale, resale boutique, entitled, “Le Bleu Bag Boutique &
Lounge”, in Detroit, Michigan.
