How to Power a City Screening

Join Soulardarity for food and a film to kick off the Summer!
We’ll be screening How to Power a City, a documentary directed by Melanie LaRosa. This film highlights efforts of Highland Park residents when 1,000+ residential street lights were removed by DTE Energy in 2011 due to a city debt. Learn about the fight to relight neighborhoods with community-owned solar street lights. This film explores the real-life struggles of energy burden that marginalized BIPOC communities experience.
We’ll offer different ticket tiers all of which will include dinner! So buy a ticket and bring a friend.

This screening will be held at the Detroit School of Arts
Parking Details: DSA has parking located between Woodward and Cass Ave, Behind the DSO with metered parking in the front of the DSO and free handicap parking behind and on the side of DSA- 123 Selden 48201.
