SUMMARY:How to Power a City Screening
DESCRIPTION:Join Soulardarity for food and a film to kick off the Summer! We’ll be screening How to Power a City\, a documentary directed by Melanie LaRosa. This film highlights efforts of Highland Park residents when 1\,000+ residential street lights were removed by DTE Energy in 2011 due to a city debt. Learn about the fight to relight neighborhoods with community-owned solar street lights. This film explores the real-life struggles of energy burden that marginalized BIPOC communities experience.  \n\n\n\nWe’ll offer different ticket tiers all of which will include dinner! So buy a ticket and bring a friend. \n\n\n\nCheck out the trailer below and here directly from Melanie LaRosa! \n\n\n\nThis screening will be held at the Detroit School of Arts \n\n\n\nParking Details: DSA has parking located between Woodward and Cass Ave\, Behind the DSO with metered parking in the front of the DSO and free handicap parking behind and on the side of DSA- 123 Selden 48201.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBy attending the “How to Power a City” documentary screening\, you will help us raise funds to bring awareness\, inspire action\, and create a positive impact within our community. DESCRIPTION:Everybody loves a great game of bowling! (and it’s even BETTER when we can support a great cause like…ENERGY DEMOCRACY!) Come out and Bowl with Soul on June 22nd. One ticket includes: bowling for 2 hours\, bowling shoe rental\, 2 slices of pizza and soft drinks.
